In a word... Broken! 

Next to the insane economic policy voted on by Jim Cooper, there is nothing more telling of the continuing D.C. insanity that intertwines our failing economy, our security and national sovereignty than immigration.

This congress is derelict in their duty. Today the invasion of illegal immigrants continues. And tomorrow, while the presidential candidates are focusing on each other's religion, race, gender and lipstick, this congress will do nothing to stop the invasion or protect legal immigrants and Americans from this National Security and economic risk.

There is no other single issue that unite Americans, brown, black, white, democrat, republican, your family or my family, than that of immigration. You know this is bad for our community, our state and our country. We beat the Amnesty Program supported by Jim Cooper and  I will continue the fight in Washington to create some sanity in American Immigration Policy. There are good Congressional members that put their political life on the line with this issue. They need our help and support. I pledge to you and to them, my support! I also pledge to fight federal intrusion into any local solutions for this issue. Remember what Andrew Jackson said, "I heard what your court says, now try to enforce it."

The facts: 

• Jim Cooper plays politics with important illegal immigration legislation. 

  • Jim Cooper cosponsors Heath Shuler's bill, HR 4088, to provide immigration reform by securing America's borders, clarifying and enforcing existing laws, and enabling a practical employer verification program.

  • Cooper now refuses to sign the discharge petition that will allow an up or down vote in the House of the very legislation he cosponsored.

  • A hypocrite, or is that Cooper, in reality, doesn't hear or care about your immigration concerns?

   

• Numbers USA, a nonpartisan organization to inform and protect Americans from the ravaging affects illegal immigration ranks Jim Cooper as mediocre with barely a "C" rating on immigration issues while Gerard Donovan is rated "A+".

• Immigration Voting Record ranked by Numbers USA shows Jim Cooper does what he does best in Congress...Not Much!

  • Reduce Chain Migration - No Votes Cast

  • Reduce Unnecessary Foreign Worker Visas - No Votes Cast

• Jim Cooper Rated an A+ with the National Council of La Raza, (the race).

• Failed Immigration Policy supported by Jim Cooper is costly to Tennesseans.

  • Illegal immigration contributed to the economic meltdown with millions of defaulted subprime loans according to HUD.

    • La Raza lobbied Cooper and Congress with political clout to ease credit requirements for home mortgages and pressured banks to make subprime loans.

      NCLR position - Latino families must have equal access to mortgage financing. To increase Hispanic homeownership substantially, all sectors – public, private, and non-profit – must work together to craft flexible mortgage products and outreach activities that will increase access to the mortgage market. This includes making the increase of Hispanic homeownership both a business and policy priority, demonstrated through strategic planning and allocation of resources. Latino families stand to represent a significant portion of new homeowners in the coming years; their financial needs cannot be ignored.

  • Metro Nashville alones spends 11 million dollars a year for English as a Second Language classes.

  • Last year English First an action group for English as the official language in America gave Jim Cooper an "F" rating.

  • Illegal Immigrants increase healthcare costs.

    • Pregnant women illegally cross our borders to have their children, "Anchor Babies".

    • An anchor baby born 3 month premature in California cost the taxpayers over $300,000.00 in additional medical costs.

    • Emergency rooms are used as free walk-in clinics.

    • An anchor baby born in America on average generates $500.00 in public welfare funding for the family.

    • Madeleine Pelner Cosman writes in the spring 2005 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, "Anchor babies born to illegal aliens instantly qualify as citizens for welfare benefits and have caused enormous rises in Medicaid costs and stipends under Supplemental Security Income and Disability Income." A "Congressman Donovan"  will introduce legislation to end this practice.

    • Illegal immigrants have reintroduced fatal diseases to America such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease.

  • Illegal Immigration leads to additional criminal activity in our neighborhoods.

  • 20% of all illegal aliens entering America have a documented criminal record. 100% are criminals.

  • Increased police protection costs to our communities.

   

• Porous Borders

  • Illegally breached by undocumented workers, unsecure borders offer the same easy unchecked access to drug smugglers, weapons traffickers, and terrorists. Jim Cooper has done little to strengthen our borders. The Border Patrol ranks Cooper at only 50% according to Project Vote Smart.

   

• Special Interest Visa Projects

  • Congressional leadership supported lockstep by Jim Cooper are ready to allow a half a million new immigrants into America with a new federal visa program sponsored by Zoe Lofgren (D) CA. There have been nine straight months of rising unemployment in this country and Congress is working to undercut American middleclass white collar wages by 25% by diluting the workforce with migrant workers. Their are over 23 federal visa programs to suit just about every special interest. Jim Cooper looks to support this latest effort and appease his preferred constituents.

Gerard Donovan will fight to bring illegal immigration to a halt. Gerard will work to fulfill the wishes of American citizens of all nationalities to protect our security and sovereignty by strengthening our borders.
