Gerard Donovan is a Mt. Juliet, TN businessman running
for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 5th
District in Tennessee. Located near the center of the
state, the TN 5th represents parts of Wilson, Davidson
and Cheatham counties.
Born 5/31/56 in Windsor,
Ontario, Canada, Gerard legally immigrated to the
United States with his family in the late 1960's. He
served in the United States Marine Corps from February
1974 until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant (E-5)
in February 1978.
Gerard's passions are his Faith, his Family, and
pursuit of the
American Dream. Married to his best friend, Marti, for 16
years, he has three wonderful children - Peggy, Wish
and John. The Donovans are members of
Joy Church International of Mt. Juliet.
Gerard is a naturalized citizen. Plainly
put, he is American by choice! Although he dropped out
of high school at age 16 - and joined the Marine Corps
at age 17 - he went to night school and earned his high
school diploma while serving his country. After leaving
active duty status with the USMC in 1978, he began
pursuing a college education. Working full time and
parenting two children, he nonetheless earned his
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
Technology.
Unlike most anointed career
politicians born into wealth and power, Gerard earned
his success in the same fashion as the vast majority of
Middle Tennesseans; he struggled to support his young
family during the lean years. For example, Gerard has
worked as a car wash attendant, a janitor for the
Salvation Army, a laborer in the heat and the grime of a steel mill,
and showed promise as a young upward mobile manager in
an electronics firm.

For the last 10 years he has gathered
his grass-roots experience and cutting edge education to
meet the payroll of his own company, serving as
President of Quality
Practitioners, Inc. Gerard founded Quality
Practitioners, Inc, a training and consulting firm
specializing in manufacturing efficiency through the use
of quality improvement tools and standardization
techniques, in 1997. He has traveled expansively
throughout North America, Asia and the Sub-continent
evaluating manufacturers' ability to meet extensive
International Standards for Quality and Environmental
Management.
Regional to multi-national manufacturing
concerns have benefited by Donovan's 20 years of
mechanized experience. Quality Practitioners Inc. is
acclaimed as the most thorough and comprehensive
consulting available in the United States.
Today, Gerard Donovan is tackling the
most significant challenge of his career as he seeks
office to improve the quality of our government. He has
been responsible for assisting hundreds of businesses in
meeting International Standards and become more
efficient. Today he directs his efforts toward improving
the efficiency of our nation's capital.
